Project-Based Learning & Leadership Consulting Services

As a project-based consultant, I partner with organizational leaders and subject matter experts to turn expertise or ideas into meaningful learning experiences for adults. Most of my work is with nonprofits and higher-education institutions - building leadership programs, training initiatives, or team development experiences grounded in clearly-defined outcomes and meaningful learning experiences.

My goal is to create a program that meets your goals, and to be the answer to the question, “but, how do I teach this?”

What does my work look like?

As an experienced adult educator, I can help you create a training, program, or course that meets the goals you have for your participants. I do so in partnership with you, because you know the subject you want to teach best. That’s why all of my work is collaborative.

Together, we’ll:

  • Get clear on learning goals and measurable outcomes;

  • Identify the best way to achieve those goals (structures, formats, delivery modes, etc.);

  • and Co-create materials and experiences that will connect with your participants.

With my clients, I have co-designed:

  • Professional Training & Certification Programs;

  • Online Courses;

  • Leadership Development Programs

  • Professional Workbooks;

  • Staff Retreats and training modules;

  • and more!

I also have sample programs that can give us a place to start if you aren’t sure where to begin - on topics like leadership, mindfulness at work, effective management, coaching, and more.

I’m a good fit if you:

  • Are a subject matter expert (or have a team of subject matter experts) who needs to shape their knowledge into a learning experience;

  • Are building a leadership program, training series, or learning initiative for adults;

  • Want something more personal than an “off the shelf” training;

  • Work in a mission-driven organization (non-profit, socially responsible business, higher education, etc.);

  • And want to work in partnership to turn your idea into a powerful learning experience.

I’m not a great fit if you:

  • Are looking for a one-off slide deck or LMS build-out;

  • Want fully outsourced, anonymous course production;

  • Need high volume, standardized training;

  • Are looking for K-12 curriculum development.

Past Projects

  • A young green plant sprouting from dark soil with sunlight in the background. The top left corner displays the PRYDE logo and text, and large green text on the right reads 'Growing Purpose,' with smaller matching text below stating 'A workshop for youth service professionals.'

    Developing Purpose in Youth with the PRYDE Program at Cornell University

    The PRYDE Program at Cornell University hired me to create a 6-module learning program for youth-focused professionals to learn about how purpose is cultivated and supported in youth. We created a powerful learning agenda based on clearly articulated goals, then developed the slide and accompanying workbook that would bring this program to life.

  • Laptop displaying a certificate for a nonprofit management program, placed on a black desk with a black coffee mug on the left and a stack of books on the right.

    Nonprofit Management Certificate Program with Common Good Vermont

    Common Good Vermont reached out to me during the pandemic when they needed to translate their in-person certificate program to an online delivery mode. I worked with them to create an online home for the program, then worked with each unit’s subject matter expert to translate their materials into effective online modules. I also facilitated weekly cohort meetings to provide consistency in engagement and program delivery.

  • Slide from presentation titled 'Ditch the Pitch Training' with the subtitle 'Where the pitch ends and you begin', presented by Visceral. The slide has a minimalist design with green and beige colors and a small logo in the top right corner.

    "Ditch the Pitch" Online Training Program with Visceral Communications

    As a communications and sales consultant, Talia Jacqueline wanted to create a program that would bust sales people out of their boxes and help them learn the psychology of communication. With my support, she developed a training program that combined theory with practice, helping sales teams to drastically improve their results. Our ongoing collaboration helped Talia not only develop this particular course but also envision future growth for her company.

Sample Programs

  • Two women, one wearing glasses and a striped sweater, the other wearing a hijab and brown jacket, sitting at a marble table, looking at a tablet, smiling, in an indoor setting with a wooden wall and green plants.

    Coaching for Managers

    Let’s take a dep dive into the power of coaching! This 6-session series introduces managers to the concept of coaching as a strategy for bringing out the best in their teams. Each session has a clear learning goal and includes preparatory readings, presentation materials, group engagement activities, and key take-aways. Support your managers as they take a new, powerful approach to their role, helping their teams thrive!

  • Four young women sitting around a table, smiling and talking in a cafe or coffee shop.

    Intro to Leadership (for new Managers)

    Managers are often promoted into leadership roles because they are good at what they do, but not necessarily because they know how to lead. This 6-part curriculum provides new managers with a crash course in what it means to lead, including the following topics: performance management, goal-setting/business planning, coaching, delivering constructive feedback, and team dynamics.

  • A man sitting cross-legged on a beige carpet in a living room, meditating with closed eyes, wearing a white t-shirt and a checkered shirt, with a tablet lying on the carpet nearby.

    Taking Stress in Stride: Mindful Practices for Workplace Challenges

    Staff members who are stressed, or on the verge of burnout are least likely to meet their goals and more likely to be a retention risk. Provide your staff with valuable tools to manage workplace stressors more mindfully, improving their mental health and their ability to succeed. This 5-part online series can be delivered remotely or purchased as a self-directed online course.

Client Reviews

“We contracted Carrie to help design a professional development workshop for community educators. Contracting Carrie was easily the best decision we made as a team. From the very first meeting, Carrie saw our vision, asked the right questions, and kept us on-track. We wasted no time getting her up to speed; Carrie entered the project as if she'd been a member of the team all along. Not only did she design a brilliant, streamlined, and engaging workshop, but she jumped head-first into the graphic design process, taking it upon herself to create visually appealing slides and workbook materials. We would work with Carrie again in a heartbeat. Cannot recommend Carrie enough!”

  • Casey Adrian, Cornell University PRYDE Program

“Carrie joined Common Good Vermont as a consultant and facilitator with CGVT's Nonprofit Management Certificate Program in the Fall of 2020, during the pandemic. Her educational expertise and experience in facilitation were essential as CGVT navigated a time of transition. Carrie provided short-term programmatic support, helping us to migrate our professional development programs to an online format, and long-term strategic planning support as we envisioned the future of our programs. She was a helpful resource to faculty and students who came to rely on her as they participated in our programs. I highly recommend Carrie and her work serving nonprofits and educational institutions!"

  • Morgan Webster, Common Good Vermont

“Carrie has meaningfully impacted my business in the short time that we've been working together! A diamond in the rough, I stumbled upon her website in search of a training and curriculum consultant who could take our educational material and turn it into a high-end, online, scalable course. What I realize now is that Carrie's incredible talent and eye for strategy FAR surpasses building a product like a course. Her talent touches all aspects of a business - most importantly, its growth! Having Carrie in my corner allows for me to be the visionary that I am, like most business owners, while she strategically improves the way our services are delivered. I look forward to the finished product of our work and partnering together in many more ways in the future!:
